Coffee

According to local directory data from the Multnomah Coffee Club, there are 56 coffee roasters located in and near Portland proper, and 71 roasters across Portland and its surrounding metro-area suburbs, spanning 11 towns.

I would like to try all of them, and mention them here.

I usually order a Cortado — it’s my favorite drink for comparing espresso. And when I’m buying beans, or when I have a choice for making the Cortado, Ethiopian beans tend to be my favorite.

Push Pull

In October 2026 I stopped by Push Pull and ordered a Colombian roast Cortado.

821 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97214

It was described as bright and floral, and I liked that I had a choice between it and a Guatemala, described as more of a dark chocolate.

The coffee did not disappoint.

A regular stop for me

I’ve been here many times, and I’ve purchased beans for home here. I find they consistently have a great selection, and their quality is impressive to me.

Portland Coffee Roasters: A Pleasant, Play-It-Safe Start

In October 2026 I stopped by Portland Coffee Roasters and ordered a Cortado.

815 SE Oak St, Portland, OR 97214

They only had their St. Johns roast available for it. It seemed very standard — pleasant to drink, but it didn’t stand out as special or above average.

The room

To me, the location is modern and clean in appearance, with a decent amount of hangout space. It seems to me like they are playing it safe and trying to be similar to other larger chains. Overall, I thought it was very nice.
